What to expect

I suggest that you take your time to look at the website to see if what I can offer is right for you Then you can text, email or call for a chat to clarify any issues, talk over any concerns you have or ask some questions.

I offer an initial telephone appointment  for up to 30 minutes free of charge. This puts you under no obligation but allows you to ask questions, clarify any issues about the counselling process and we can get to know each other a little. Following this you can take time to reflect if this is right for you or you can book in for a face to face session there and then.

The initial session will last 1 hour where your situation will be discussed and we can focus on your reasons for seeking therapy and what you want to get out of therapy in some detail. I would suggest attending initially for a minimum of 4 sessions. Following this we will review how things are going and decide how you want to proceed. For some people this may be all they need but for others 6-8 sessions would be appropriate.  Some people may be looking for a longer term arrangement of 6 months or longer which is perfectly fine. There is really no minimum or maximum number of sessions,

How many sessions should I have ?

People often ask “how many sessions should I have” ? I am happy to work on a short term basis from as little as four sessions or to work on a longer term or open ended basis where you are free to return to counselling after a break or to cope with a new challenge in your life. There is absolutely no pressure to have any more sessions than you feel comfortable with.
